ECON 2000 Chapter : Personal Philosophy
Document Summary
Susceptibility to disconnection from reality; denial of meaninglessness. Replacement of compassion and caring with money. In order to have freedom one must take it, therefore an equilibrium must be found. Reality; the physical universe and its methods are determined by mathematics (basic concept of algebra is that both sides are equal to each other, equilibrium) Body is a vessel for the soul which consists chiefly of the neurons; the only things in the human body that help us to conceptualize reality. Indisputable physical basis to mental processes, which therefore cannot be understood without reference to the physical level; and hobbes did much to stop people thinking of mind as something purely abstract. (hobbes, 79) To survive we must keep warm, this is why we need food as wood for our internal fires, shelter to maintain this warmth, and water to return us to equilibrium.
