Document Summary
Amir jan is my only son my only child, and he has been a good son to me. These words are what amir has been trying to get his father to say since he can remember. Amir had been longing to hear himself addressed as such for the longest time. That may be the first sincere time we heard him being referred to as such. It makes me happy that amir has finally reached the point in his life where he is happy about all aspects. I find this humorous that amir is shocked that one would destroy an orphanage. It is funny because in the beginning of the book, he didn"t want the orphanage being built in the first place; he felt like baba cared more about them than his own son. He probably thought that way to have baba get to know him.
