Shakespeare basically has a thesis statement in all of his plays. Lucentio say she wants to become a scholar. He has falling in love with bianca and its love at first sight . Bianca"s kate"s sister, she"s rich, modest, beautiful, submissive. Bianca means white signifying virtue: bianca is the dream date. She has to be married before her sister can get married: kate is up against the world no one is on her side, shrew. Lucentio- romantic lead in the play women are suppose to be attracted to him. He is like bianca as the ideal perfect person. Bianca and lucentio are not the main plot of the play. Petrichio starts a fight with his own servant- goal coming to town marry a rich women. Not the guy all women want to date. Courtship is a game and that is what petrichio and baptista are doing: negotiating- for the transfer of property his daughter kate.
