Document Summary

People will be easier to control due to limit of land. For egyptians, the nile river was referred to as a god and egypt was the city. It was much easier to conquer the land of the nile by force of the nile (divine). It is a slow flowing river and floods predictably. Agriculture was fairly stable and fairly productive. 3500 bce, people started living around the nile. Around 3000 bce, the nile river valley came under control of a single ruler, known as the pharaoh. Absolute rulers that turned egypt into a state. Tried very hard to associate themselves with the good things of egyptian society (nile) No defined code of law; whatever the pharaoh wanted was the law. Had a small court of officials (often family) Used the priests of egypt to solidify his rule. Pharaohs were mummified along with their pets, slaves, chariots, and food for the after life. The old kingdom pharaohs were the absolute rulers.
