City was built in a systematic grid pattern with a wall around the city: the cities were built around a central building, wealthy people lived closest to this building, kiln fired bricks made up the buildings. City was possibly ruled by aristocratic class: by 2600, the harappans were in contact with ancient mesopotamia and egypt and forming trade networks, mother goddess figurines were found, during the 3rd phase, the cities began to decline.
