Document Summary
9/12/2012: the polis (independent city-state, small in size-only athens had over 20,000 citizens. Hostages were a formal agreement and were chosen afterwards. Winner would make their trophy (usually a pile of the loser"s armor). Regarded archery as unmanly because you need to face your enemy face-to-face, not stand off and shoot him from far away. Takes place in a six week period during the last year (the tenth year) of the war. Hector comes across him in battle, believing he is the greek hero achilles, and kills him. Everyone thinks achilles is defeated and flips out. The trojans are overjoyed, and the greeks are terrified.
