The hellenistic world last from alexanders death to cleopatra of egypt. She was not an egyptian she was a greek. 1. the antigonid empire was founded by antigonus who was one of alexander"s generals. It was the smallest and poorest of the empires but its great strength is that it was macedonia and greece. 2. the second was ptolemaic empire founded by ptolemy. It had the nile which produces a surplus of food. 3. the third of the empires was the seleucid empire founded by seleucus. They didn"t change offices or impose macedonia royal structure. They put greeks in charge of the offices instead of changing them. They called themselves pharaohs and dressed like them as well. Cleopatra was the only one of the rulers who could speak egyptian. Yes, they essentially had to become greek though.
