Document Summary
Alexander basically takes all the talent of greece and conquers the world with it. Macedonia was a greek and weak state when philip ruled. They did everything the greeks did, they participated in the olympic games, read homer and believed in the same gods. As a teenager, philip was a hostage (son of a diplomat who after a signing of a treaty would go and stay with the opposing nation and make sure they were abiding by the treaty). He stayed with a prominent family and participated in all that greece had to offer. When he became king he introduced all of that to macedonia. Philip was a great warrior and he knew he had to be because people respected warriors. He was always in the front lines in battle. He was wounded a number of times and lost an eye but he was a great fighter.
