The test material will stop at the golden age of athens/age of pericles. Lined up ships side by side and crossed with them: the greeks catch wind of the invasion and try to stop them. Battle of thermopylae: themistocles decides to make the narrow pass of thermopylae the battlefield to slow the persians down and hopefully turn them back. Leonidas knew of the path and supposedly sent 1000 men to guard the pass: speculation was that the guys were surprised and they surrendered. Leonidas knew that the greeks were screwed: at dawn the next day, leonidas calls a war council. Persian army: the athenians abandoned athens, and the persians come and burn athens to the ground, appears that the persians had won, xerxes decided that the defeat hadn"t been complete enough. He wanted to destroy the athenian sea power: decides to destroy the athenian navy.
