(5 pts) The lavender scare was period of time between the late 1940s and the late 1960s where people who held government jobs were accused of being homosexuals. The people who were accused were either fired or forced to quit because they were seen as sexual perverts. Homosexuals were seen as sexual perverts who were vulnerable to blackmail. At the start of the interrogation, madeleine tress was asked to take an oath. She realized how serious the interrogation was going to be. She asked for an attorney which was allowed but not in the room with her. They asked questions about a lesbian bar she had been to multiple times accusing her of going to pick up women. Tress denied the accusation saying that she went for the orchestra.
