Imperialism- same time at progressivism and gilded age. The closure of the frontier: world"s columbian exposition1893, the white city- they had 400 new building made just for the, the white city was a pristine part of the worlds fair. They had stuff to show advancement of technology and military advancement. white city was a symbol of america"s strength. This was also to show that america had its eye on world trade. America is now going to define its self through international trade. This replaces the wild west: the midway- was there for entertainment, this is where the fairs wheel on display. They had people on display from different countries. One of the hottest things was the little egyptian- they came to watch her so they could laugh at how uncivilized she was: whites are prejudice. Ii: territorial vs. economic- old was moving westward. New was looking to selling goods across the nations. We are looking to tap new natural resources.
