Chips: remove lignin and resin, pressed and cut sheets. High-wet-modulus rayon (hwm: resistance to deformation when wet, lower acid concentration. Color and luster: white, bright or dull. Shape: any length, striations, narrow grooves, channels. Specific gravity: low, light weight, good draping quality, pleasing hand/feel. Elasticity and resiliency: stretches and wrinkles, creeps back. Absorbency and moisture regain: high absorbency, dyes easily, bright colors, soft and comfortable. Abrasion resistance: extremely low, resists pilling, decreases wet. Read labels: viscose-dry clean, hwm-launder, hand or machine. Cupru : bemberg rayon, 1926, germany, italy, japan. 1975 discontinued in us: more silk-like appearance, no striations, smoother, stronger, warm weather clothing, good heat conductor, fairly absorbent. 1996: 1st new generic fiber in 30 years, solvent spinning process. High modulus: measure of stiffness, unlike viscose rayon.
