The basic unit of spongy bone is trabeculae. Consists of blood plasma and formed elements: rbc, whb, and platelets. Both compact and spongy bone make up the various parts of bones in the body. Support, protection, storage, houses blood- forming tissues, serves as levels to act with muscles to enable movement. Within blood vessels and within the chambers of the heart. Wbc carry on phagocytosis, are involved in allergic and immune responses, and essential for clotting.
