Catalog Description: Developments in Kinesiology and health from ancient times to the present.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate an understanding of the importance of physical activity in daily life
2. demonstrate an understanding of the discipline of Kinesiology, how it is structured, the types
of knowledge studied by its scholars, and the implications for professional practice
3. demonstrate an understanding of professional occupations, career options, and qualifications
associated with each area of concentration
4. demonstrate a knowledge of the history and philosophy of Kinesiology, its leaders and the
professional organizations and agencies of the field
5. critique the influence of economic, political, cultural, ethnic, gender and educational factors
affecting the evolution of the discipline
