KIN 3513 Chapter : Lab 1 KIN 3513 Fitts Law 1
Document Summary
Purpose: to examine the relation between the time to make rapid arm movements and the difficulty of the task. This relation is expressed formally as fitts" law, in which task difficulty is defined in terms of the distance to move and the accuracy demands at the movement. Law has been shown to generalize to a variety of physical activity and ergonomic situations where speed and accuracy play important roles. The task is to tap repeatedly as fast as possible between two targets. Equipment: pencil, fitts" targets (print out the 6 pages from moodle with fitts" targets) The purpose of the lab is to assess how movement time (mt) is affected by the difficulty of tasks. Fitts defined task difficulty in terms of target size (w, which is the width of the target) and the distance to move (d, which is the distance between targets).
