Egypt: nile river shaped the land of egypt allowing for agricultural land use. much like the mississippi river delta. Dessert architecture includes the pyramids and sculptures, inside the pyramids hieroglyphs show images of gardens and transplanting trees and other plants. Diagrams have been found of garden plans with walls to protect the plants and increase production of shade and food. Ponds are shown probably to raise fish and ducks. Ponds also could be used for cooling purposes (evaporative cooling) due to lack of humidity. Gardens were modeled to be a paradise on earth. Greek: not formal, irregular, beautifully fitted to the site, buildings were not arranged in a geometric pattern, they were more concerned with fitting to the site. Pompeii: indoor/outdoor relationships between houses and gardens, the volcano preserved the architecture of pompeii, indoor/outdoor living- focus is privacy, with out wasting outdoor space.
