1) you should know the physical and biological stresses of living in the intertidal zone. Physical: air exposure (emersion), temperature and salinity fluctuations, and wave action. Biological: predation, competition (food and space), and reproductive success. Intertidal zones: the zone between the tides; area of the shoreline between the high tide line and the low tide line: can have varying coverage of water depending on the tide. Sub tidal zone: all area below the low tide line: always be covered with water because it"s below the low tide line, physical factors, substrates type, rocky: erosional coast. Sand: depositional coast: mud: depositional coast, stresses, air exposure, emersion, temperature and salinity fluctuation, wave action, wave action, organisms can be flexible, have strong attachments, and live in groups to decrease the wave force, be flexible. Like the limpets and snails, chitons and sea urchins. Scavengers feeding on detritus and other organisms: crabs and arthropods.
