I constantly hoped that it would have been much earlier in my power, consistently with motives which i was not at liberty to disregard, to return to that retirement from which i had been reluctantly drawn. It was obvious that president washington"s retirement wasn"t popular with the american people. Washington expressed humiliation in that even though he was highly favored by his constituents and received several honored it"s because of the people that america has prospered. Washington explained that has learned from the resolve of the people. It"s almost as if washington defined american patriotism, telling citizens to love their country don"t just view it as a country that is bonded by a constitution.
