Document Summary
Hecuba is queen, priaun is king(of troy); 3 kids: cassandra, polydorus, and polyxena. Hecuba and prian sent polydorus there for safe keeping. Odysseus- warrior/politician, a person who hecuba saves when he comes to troy as a spy. Agamemnon- one of the greater kings, has gathered the troops. Hecuba has lost the city, lost her family, is enslaved, and the gods are indifferent to her fate. Play opens with the ghost of polydorus explaining how his father gave polymestor gold and respobililty for their kids. Polymestor"s plan is to kill polydorus and take the gold for himself. Polyxena is chosen to be a sacrifice as a favor to achilles ghost. Hecuba was going to lose all of her children. (cassandra was taken to greece as agammenon"s mistress) Hecuba goes to odysseus and asks for help in protecting her daughter, polyxena(refuses to beg for her life). Odysseus refuses her, and polyxena is killed (heroic death).
