POLI 2053 Chapter : Poli Sci 2053
Document Summary
Political science is the study of the government and how it works. In politics, there is a struggle for power over the governance of a group of people. Comparative politics, specifically, is the comparative study of politics around the world and the understanding of various countries and their governments. Comparisons between countries include the examination of taxation, army, elections, and the state. Governments vary from country to country in these aspects and more. One reason to study comparative politics is to learn about and from the governments in other countries and to escape the notion of ethnocentrism in regards to our own country. Other countries may have aspects of their own government that can possibly help us learn how to improve our own government and learn from our mistakes. It is important to be educated on other countries and their unique differences from the united states.
