Sensory memory class demonstration: showed letters on the board for 1 sec and asked us to write. Holds info from the senses for a very brief duration. Each sense has a sensory memory associated with it. Auditory: echoic memory (about 4 sec) them down. Showed people an array of letters very fast. Cued to remember a certain row after seeing the letters. This showed that people could remember more than they could report. Memory span: magic number is 7 plus or minus 2.
