Child development define the scientific study of physical, emotional/social, and mental growth from conception to adolescence. There are three main areas or approaches in child development: Physical development define and provide example the changes in body-brain, nervous system, muscles, and senses. Cognitive development define and provide example how changes in mental abilities change behavior and understanding. Personality development define and provide example the characteristics that separate one from others or make one similar to others. Such as being an intro/extrovert, your openness with people, etc. This may change over time; you don"t have to be shy your whole life. Social development define and provide example how our understanding of the self/others and how relationships with others grow and change. This is friendships, your morals and expectations out of people and yourself. Most child developmentalists break up child development into several broad stages: Prenatal period define from conception to birth. Infancy and toddlerhood define birth to 3 years old.
