Chapter 13 developmental and disruptive behaviour disorders final revision notes. Deficits or impairments in adaptive functioning such as communication and social skills. Qualitative impairment in social interactions such as lack of social/emotional reciprocity. Impairment in communication such as delay or lack of skills. Restricted, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behaviour, interests and activities shown through for example; preoccupation with parts of objects. Similar to autism, both involve impairment in social interaction and bizarre behaviour however those with asperger"s do not generally have major deficits in language, cognitive and adaptive functioning. Their growth physically and skills wise seem normal in first five months. However decline in; head growth, loss of motor skills, loss of social engagement, poor coordination and severe impairment in expressive/receptive language development and severe psychomotor retardation after 5 months. Appears normal development for at least first 2 years. Clinically sig loss of previous development (before 10) Abnormal functioning such as communication and social interaction.
