Document Summary

Mammoth tracks indicate a declining late pleistocene population in southwestern alberta, canada. This article takes place 11,000 years before present in southwestern. A comparison of size distribution of mammoth tracks with modern african elephant tracks was used to determine the age distribution of this mammoth population. More juveniles were found in the early stages of the mammoth prints while less was found in later stages 200 years later. The introduction of humans and their affect on the population due to hunting juveniles is an important factor in the population decline/extinction.
