Cultural knowledge helps us advance in our social and economic statuses- this is the idea of cultural capital. Cultural capital- values, attitudes, and knowledge (particularly on education) provided by parents to help us succeed in society. 4 major skills we learn from teachers: to compete: western society promotes, to achieve: set a goal, to cooperate: group assignment, learn player, to obey rules: law abiding citizens.
