Document Summary
Australopithecus: these individuals probably represented several different species belonging to australopithecus, which flourished in east africa during the period from about 4 million to 1 million years ago. This species was a hominidae, includes human and humanlike species. Had a greater intelligence and displaced their predecessors. And made sophisticated tools and learned how to start fires. They ventured beyond eastern and southern africa. Groups of them moved to southwest asia, europe, south asia, east asia and southeast asia. Homo sapiens: more intelligent and successful compared to homo erectus. Had larger brain, approaching size of modern human brain. Their intelligence helped them survive for so long. Individuals were able to understand structure in the world around them, organized more efficient methods of using nature and have better ways of communication. Homo sapiens developed a throat with vocal cord and a separate mouth cavity with a tongue. Enabled them to enunciate hundreds of distinct sounds that eventually became spoken languages.
