They built thriving cities and established political and economic alliances between these cities. They also built a fleet and traded with the western mediterranean. In late 6th century they encountered a series of challenges. Greek fleets defeated the etruscans at sea while celtic people attacked them from gaul. The kings of rome ruled through the 6th and 7th centuries.
