Says that dmitri even mentioned having 6000 . so he must have stolen another 3000 from his father. Admits that he did hear dmitri mention 6000. Tell the officers that dmitri promised them 3000 roubles to leave the tavern (700 now and the rest to be paid out soon) But mitya counters that he never intended to pay out the rest, but to instead offer them property to make up for the roubles he doesn"t have. Declares positively that there were 20,000 roubles in dmitri"s hands. But then admits he"s never seen 20,000 roubles before in person but he has seen 7,000. Heard from dmitri himself that he had 3000 roubles the first time they went to the tavern a month ago.
