Symbolic: usually correspond to words, ex: word violin : analogical & symbolic representations = basis of human thought, intelligence, ability to solve complex problems of everyday life, analogical representations: have some characteristics of actual objects. Ex: maps correspond to geographical layouts; family trees depict relationships b/w relatives.
