Reciprocal interaction: our behavior influences how others will treat us. The cognitive triad of depression = how early ways of distorted, negative thinking are linked to depression. Cognitive-specificity hypothesis = diff disorders are characterized by diff types of automatic thoughts. Ppl may become depressed bc they learn to view themselves as helpless. Behavioral activation = depressed patients are encouraged to do enjoyable things. Imipramine (tofranil), amitriptyline (elavil), desipramine (norpramin), and doxepin (sinequan) Endowment effect: = items gain in value to the person who owns them. You can change your self-concept by changing how you think of yourself, how you act, But most ppl keep the same personalities over time. Self-concept is more easily changed when your environment changes.
