Ens 303 - reading notes - tgb chp 2: shoulder/arm. Clavicle: collar bone, superficial and runs horizontally along the top of the chest at base of the neck. Articulates laterally with the acromion of the scapular (acromioclavicular) and medially with the sternum (sternoclavicular) Scapula: triangular shaped bone of the upper back. Along with clavicle: stabilization and movement of the arm. Glides across the posterior surface of the thorax to form scapulothoracic jt. Proximal humerus articulates with the glenoid fossa of the scapula = glenohumeral jt. Glenohumeral jt is a synovial, ball and socket joint with a wide range of movement. Superficial ridge located just off the top of the shoulder. Runs at oblique angle, spanning from the acromion to the medial border. Attachment site for the posterior deltoid and middle and lower fibers of the trapezius. Long edge of the scapula that runs parallel to the vertebral column.
