PSY 130 Chapter Notes - Chapter 7: European Credit Transfer And Accumulation System, Psych
Document Summary
Replication: when investigators carry out a well-designed analysis and make statistically significant conclusions, they usually report the results in a journal, or even at a conference. Often, the findings are quoted as something the researchers know about the topic they are researching. Anything may be odd about the mean sample. There may be something else about the time that the study was conducted maybe an unusual environment in the country or on campus, caused by a significant incident. Or the finding may be the result of some unknown and inadvertent aspect of the particular experimental procedure. Whatever the cause, it is risky to assume that a broad cant finding from one study provides reliable proof of an impact: the solution to this problem is by replication. The more frequently an effect ect is found in research, the more confident we are that it represents a real connection.
