corporation or firm are likely to have different types
of networks
o Male worker is closer friends with male boss
and other male clients
o Men tend to socialize often after work with
large number of coworkers
o Female coworker of same educational
background and experience will have networks
composed of fewer coworkers in general and
those coworkers might tend to be the few
other women at the firm
o Networks are a handicap for women in the
workplace and make it more difficult for them
to achieve the same kind of success as men
Intersectional Feminist Theory
o Black Lives Matter movement was intersectional movement
• Founders were three Black women who self-identify as
queer
• Black women are also victims of police violence
• Transmen and transwomen of color are also victimized by
the police
o Other theories separate gender from any of the other many
identities and statuses we occupy – its considered separately
from statuses such as race, ethnicity, age, class, nationality, and
sexuality
