But, there are many different ways in which we could think about how people are doing e. g. nutrition (food) We will think about two ways of capturing welfare: Measures of poverty capture how people are doing in relation to a defined standard or threshold. Measures of inequality capture how people (or countries!) are doing relative to each other. We will focus on what is called extreme poverty . People are considered to be living in extreme poverty if they live on less than 1. 90 international dollars per day. = equivalent of what . 90 could buy in the us in 2011. This is extremely little, often not even enough to stave off hunger, let alone take care of housing, education, etc
