Prospered 3500 years ago in aegean sea. Archaeological site identified as troy is hisarlik in turkey. Neither greeks or trojans were organized into a unified state. Conflicts were between alliances of city states. Tyndareus (king of sparta) was married to leda. Leda was so beautiful she attracted the attention of zeus. Zeus appeared as a swan and leda laid 2 eggs. Helen"s beauty attracted many suitors (heads of states r generals) Feared that if one married helen the rest would break out in war. Had a premonition that one would destroy the city. In troy king priam and queen hecuba had many sons and daughters. Gave it to a shepard to kill. Shepard raised the boy, named him paris. Zeus had an affair with aegina and had a son aeacus. Hera loathed aeacus and sent him to rule over an unimportant island. Pleaded to zeus to make his island full of strong people.
