Mmw 14 article notes the descent of man. Chapter i: the evidence of the descent of man from some lower form: bodily structure of man shows traces of his descent from a lower form. Susceptible to the same diseases as other animals: medicines have the same effect, subject to the same parasites, same healing. Some power of regeneration in loss of limbs: reproduction the same in all mammals. Embryonic development: embryo can hardly be distinguished from embryos of other animals, brain of human at 7 months in the womb same as adult baboon. Rudiments: remnants of things we used to possess but don"t really use anymore, like organs or muscles. Laughing: crying, some of our physical characteristics are the same, ears, hair. Forehead: people and apes come from a common ancestor and that explains our similarities, people come from an old world group of apes. On the birthplace and antiquity of man: ole world, africa, hot country, loss of hair.
