Submarine canyons: origin during lower sea level, submarine erosion, flows along ground surface, sea floor. Sedimentation and sediments on the deep seafloor: terrigenous. Land-derived: on rise and abyssal plain, deposited by turbidity currents, pelagic. Fine grained clay and skeletons of microscopic organisms: waves, wind driven, energy transfers from wind to the water surface, size and speed of wave controlled by. Foamy top on waves = surf zone: wave refraction, come in at an angle. Friction btwn water and sea floor, waves slow down on side the hits shore first: near-shore circulation. Geological time: rock units, fossils, geological events.
