TEXT:
text attracts attention before graphics. So, keep headlines simple and direct
People only read 22% of text, and focus more on graphics because text is usually boring.
People don’t read websites, they scan them.
Language: sharp and short, every day words.
text: bullet points, bold, highlighted, chunking information.
typography: sans serif- body text. Italics are too hard to read.
information: interactive links, site maps, search by categories, help, FAQ section.
LAYOUT
use grids, work it all out before make sure it’s planned, create pages that are interesting,
navigation structure.
GRAPHICS:
use ones with value, assist with getting information across, use thumbnails.
OTHER MEDIA ELEMENTS:
sound/movie files are quite large in file size- user control to download or not download
item.
COLOUR:
mood and psychology, navigation, aesthetic and functionality.
ACCESSABLITY:
for people who have disabilities eg: deaf, blind, colour blind, strain injury, impairments etc.
create alternative texts for images etc. legislation, universal use.
