Document Summary

Dtn301 week 6 lipids and cvd 1. The main role of the cardiovascular system is to deliver oxygen and nutrients in oxygenated blood to tissues, remove metabolic waste and return deoxygenated blood. Cardiovascular disease covers all conditions of the heart and blood vessels which includes veins, arteries and capillaries. Coronary heart disease resulted in more deaths than any other single disease with almost half of those been from acute myocardial infarction or heart attack. Rates of cardiovascular disease a higher in males than females and increase with age, they increase with remoteness and socio-economic disadvantage. Risks: many of the risks of cardiovascular disease are associated with poor diet, low levels of physical activity, smoking and excessive alcohol, these risks are modifiable with lifestyle and behavioural choices. Comorbidities: not surprisingly the comorbidities for cardiovascular disease are the same ones we have seen repeatedly so far. Lipoproteins address the challenge of how to move fat through the watery blood stream.
