ACCG358 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Phycology, Business Ethics, Data Security
Document Summary
Ethics: moral principles that govern a person"s behaviour or the conducting of an activity. Managers must decide on policies related to how they will conduct business. Managers then need to determine how they will achieve it. We previously discussed the conflicting responsibilities that organisations have to employees, shareholders, customers and the community. Decision making must consider the consequences that could benefit or harm each group. Balancing these conflicting demands is the manager"s ethical responsibility. Benefits must outweigh risks and costs and be fairly distributed to those who share the risk. Decisions should minimise and avoid all unnecessary risks. "computer ethics deals with the procedures, values and practises that govern the process of consuming computing technology and its related disciplines without damaging or violating the moral values and beliefs of any individual, organization or entity" Pop: simply the exposure to stories and reports found in the popular media regarding the good or bad ramifications or computer technologies.
