Document Summary
Constitutive view not in textbook, can be in exam. Communication is a fundamental process that shapes our reality. This view questions a notion of organisation". Exploring organisations through communication as explanatory framework. This view enables us to question and investigate key organisational realities (eg power, identity, gender, culture etc) not just accept them as given. Managers spend 40-80% of their time communicating. Communication promotes the flow of info all around the manager. Transfer of information between sender and receiver through media. Communication is a container shaped by structure of organisation. Sender encodes message, selects medium (eg telephone) Receiver decodes the message, decides if feedback is needed. Nb: entire communication process can be disrupted at any time by noise; any disturbance that interferes with transmission of a message eg birds, thoughts, accent. Nb: feedback is crucial, if left things can boil and be worse, absence of feedback is also feedback.
