Early history of contract law (modern era last 200 years, two main trends are market theory and consumer protection theory) Textbook ch2 cover the early history of contracts. This land was from royal grant because they provided loyalty to the king, common people would work it, so everyone would benefit. Primary means of exchange was goods: on the basis of the social origins, over time, important changes took place. A growing class of merchants emerged who began renting land around the homes in which the lords and nobles. As the towns and markets grew, the courts increasingly began to hear commercial and land disputes.
