Ilioinguinal and iliohypogastric nerve (l1: lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh (l2,3, femoral nerve (l2,3,4) Psoas major originates from both aspects of vertebral column; fibres converge as it passes through pelvic cavity. Iliohypogastric then ilioinguinal (alphabetical order) emerge onto quadratus lumborum and slip into abdominal wall to supply that region. Lateral cutaneous then femoral emerge onto iliacus and tuck under inguinal ligament. Genitofemoral nerve is one sheath for two nerves genital branch and femoral branch of gf nerve. Genital branch supplies a triangle of skin under the inguinal ligament. Emerges from the pelvis into the gluteal region (gluteal landmark) Lumbosacral trunk joins s1 4 on piriformis.
