ANAT30007 Study Guide - Final Guide: Lumbosacral Plexus, Achilles Tendon, Hyaline Cartilage
Document Summary
Nerves of lumbar plexus reach lower limb by travelling anterior to hip joint. Nerves of sacral plexus reach ll posterior to hip joint. L4(part of ramus) and l5(entire ramus) combine to form lumbosacral trunk. Anterior and medial compartments of thigh + iliopsoas. Leaves via greater sciatic foramen enters superiorly to piriformis. Accompanied by superior gluteal a. and v. Gluteus medius and gluteus minimus (abductors of hip) + tfl. Leaves via greater sciatic foramen enters inferiorly to piriformis. Accompanied by inferior gluteal a. and v. Gluteus maximus (extension at hip and external rotation) Obturator internus nerve / nerve to obturator internus (l5-s2 ventral division) Leave via great sciatic foramen -> loops around sacrospinous ligament to enter perineum via lesser sciatic foramen. Superior gemellus and obturator internus (deep muscles for external rotation of hip) Enters inferiorly to piriformis deep to gluteus maximus -> down back of thigh to knee.
