Document Summary
Multicellular organisms provide the needs of all their cells by maintaining a stable internal environment. Tissues are building blocks of an organism, making up of differentiated individual cells with similar structure and function. Epithelial tissue create a barrier between internal and external environment, involved in secretion and absorption, smell and taste. Connective tissue provide strong support and transportation system. Nervous tissue processing, receiving and transmitting electrical signals (fast and instantaneous) or protection (glial cells) Muscle tissue voluntary and involuntary movements of muscles: explain the properties of a connective tissue that contains mostly elastin or mostly collagen. Neurons are used to transfer electrical signals/messages via neurotransmitters. Glia are used to protect neurons and brains from harmful chemicals and damages: provide an example of how one or more tissue types are combined to make an organ. For example, small intestine, it has many layers of different tissues.
