BIOM20002 Lecture Notes - Lecture 26: Anatomical Terms Of Muscle, Plantar Fascia, Quadriceps Femoris Muscle
Document Summary
Peroneal (fibularis) muscles: attaches to fibula and ankle joint longus brevis. More like stabilisers proprioceptive role in ankle sprains. If you strain ankle by doing an inversion (say when you sprain your ankle) there is a reflex action on everters to try and correct in inversion. May cause pain on side of leg due to straining of everters. These three come together to form achilles tendon power (gastrocnemius - fast twitch) vs. postural (soleus - slow twitch) roles venous sinuses (enlarged veins) in soleus. Blood sits here and waits until muscle pump pushes it up. Clinical significance: calf strain venous return a(cid:272)hilles(cid:859) te(cid:374)di(cid:374)itis venous sinuses in soleus. Syndesmosis: a joint joined by two interosseous ligaments deep: plantarflexors of the ankle and toes.
