Document Summary

Lymphatic system: lymph vessels (lymphatics) lymph trunks lymph nodes lymphoid tissue. Cardiovascular system only presents in mesoderm derived structures. Not present in: ectoderm-derived: epidermis, endoderm-derived: surface epithelium, articular cartilage exception of mesoderm derived that does not have vascular supply because at bone articulation points it would be painful. Intima endothelium and basement membrane (single layered) Media smooth muscle used for vasoconstriction and vasodilation: nerve supply going to the media layer. Muscular distributing vessels: large amount of smooth muscles in media, arterial branches to somatic structures (joint, bone, skin, muscles etc. ) Joint articular arteries: bone nutrient arteries, skin cutaneous arteries, progressively reducing in calibre. Arterioles: controlled by vasomotor nerve fibres (somatic nervous system, tonus (tension in muscles) determines blood pressure, smaller lumen size blood restricted increase tonus (bp increases) hypertension, approach capillary bed. Anastomoses lumen to lumen connection without any capillary beds. Takes place where it is highly vascularized. True anastomoses meet up lumen to lumen and happen all the time.
