The prince is written as an instruction manual for rulers. Think of it as an ikea guide, recipe book, or an instruction sheet for military leaders. Machiavelli discusses the different kinds of principalities and how each can best be ruled. This is the principality you"ve gotten, here is how to maintain it". A heredity principality is just what is hounds like a principality that"s been ruled by one"s family and that one has now inherited. It is enough merely not to neglect the institutions founded by one"s ancestors and then to adapt policy to events. Average person: so longs as i"ve got enough to live, i"m happy with he status quo. As long as nothing changes, you shouldn"t change. If you want to maintain power, you shouldn"t make any radical changes. Historical e. g egyptian pharaoh changing religion, people wanted to go back.
