We want protected spheres of behaviour, where others can(cid:495)t interfere people(cid:495)s rights. Our rights help to prevent conflict, and protect our freedom. Limits to these rights are determined to the extent that actions interfere with other. Types of rights: right to education, religious rights, political rights etc. Rights imply a kind of duty, and some kind of restriction to what other people can do towards you. You have power over your rights, you can waver them, alter them, uphold them etc. Rights can take certain decisions/actions out of the public or political sphere: human rights. Human rights are the result of a historical process that has many twists and turns. Understanding the history of rights helps to understand how they are important and why they exist.
