Emphasize variations from a xed reference point. Can be used to show sentiment (positive/ neutral/ negative. Shows a balance against a baseline or between two series. Standard bar chart that can show both negative and positive values. Good for showing survey results that show sentiment (agree, disagree, neutral) Shows the change of range (min/max) of data across multiple categories. Good for displaying all data in a tables. Similar to a box plot but more e ective with complex distributions. Summerise multiple distributions by showing the median and range of the data. Standard way for showing the age and sex breakdown of population distributions. Good way of showing how unequal a distribution. User where an items positions in an ordered list. More important than its absolute or relative value. Standard bar charts display the ranks values easier if sorted in order. Same as ordered bar used when there are big variations between values.
